The research and development of skin drug delivery systems for topical and transdermal routes concentrates on delivery of both pharmaceutical and cosmetic active ingredients. Experimental studies are focused on in vitro models. The main investigations consist of the release characteristics, the skin penetration and the skin retention of the active ingredients. The development of safe and effective topical and transdermal delivery vehicles is also research interests.
